Volleyball Spotlight:
Hailey Miela
Meet
Hailey Miela — a dedicated sophomore athlete with a passion for volleyball and a love for the game that started long before high school!
Hailey first picked up volleyball recreationally during the summer between 5th and 6th grade after being inspired by her aunts, who all played in high school. With a volleyball net always set up in the backyard, the sport quickly came naturally to her.
She began on a rec team, earned all-star recognition, and later made the KMS volleyball team in both 7th and 8th grade before continuing her journey at the varsity level.
A middle hitter and blocker, Hailey credits summer leagues, camps, and time spent working with Coach Kwap for helping grow her game. She proudly wears #12 — her longtime number since middle school and now in club.
For the past two years, Hailey has also competed with her club team, Crank It, creating unforgettable memories along the way. One moment that stands out most was a semifinal match where difficult calls from the refs had the team feeling defeated — but instead of giving up, they battled back and earned an incredible comeback win.
Her biggest role model is her mom, Lacie Miela, who supports her every step of the way — from researching events and opportunities to taking time off work to be there at games and tournaments.
