Kendra Damm's love for the game runs deep — it's truly a family tradition. Her parents, Curtis and Jessica, were high school sweethearts who both played baseball and softball, and both were catchers. Kendra proudly followed in their footsteps.

A 2004 Lake Shore High School graduate family legacy helped shape her path. Kendra began playing Little League in St. Clair Shores and spent three years there before joining the SCS Sharks travel organization. She made the 10U travel team at just 8 years old and continued with the Sharks through age 12.

Originally a pitcher, Kendra transitioned to catcher at 15 — stepping up when her team needed someone behind the plate. She quickly fell in love with the position and has continued catching ever since. She currently plays travel ball with Turnin 2 and has been part of the program for three years.

Now a junior at Lake Shore High School, Kendra credits Coach Will, Coach Carl, and Coach Andy VanAssche for helping shape her both on and off the field. Coach VanAssche has coached her since she was 8 years old and has been like a second father — providing guidance, support, and encouragement throughout her journey.

Kendra wears #8 in honor of her grandfather, Gary, who passed away when she was 8 years old. She was incredibly close with him and wears his necklace every time she plays.

If you ask Kendra to describe herself in one word, she'd say Optimistic — always looking to brighten the people around her.

Favorite Memory: Winning her first Sharks championship game in extra innings — scoring the go-ahead run and then closing out the game on the mound. Final score: 4–3.

Goal This Season: Be better than last year and continue building a strong team core.

We are proud of you, Kendra — keep shining on and off the field!
